Fear of God Nike represents the first collaboration between Nike and Fear of God, an LA-based luxury streetwear label that takes cues from 90s hip-hop and sports stars. Designed by Fear of God founder Jerry Lorenzo, the line takes classic NBA warm-ups and reimagines them through the Fear of God artistic lens. The line focuses not only on the technical features required of high-performance basketball apparel but also on the emotions connected to the sport.
Through the Nike Fear of God collaboration, Lorenzo hoped to create nostalgic products that represent the spirit of basketball. In addition, he was inspired by how players wore clothes, not by the specific products they put on. This capsule collection features court-ready sneakers and basketball-inspired apparel, including jerseys, pullovers, T-shirts, shorts, basketball jackets, and trousers.
Clean, oversized silhouettes and garments that are meant to be layered make up a large portion of Fear of God Nike. The Fear of God x Nike Warm Up Top Black features drop shoulders and a boxy appearance. In addition, the designs are straightforward and minimalist, with few embellishments and simple colorways. The Fear of God x Nike Half Zip Jacket Pure Platinum/Light Bone/Black is almost entirely white with subtle black accents.
Fear of God Nike stands out from other sportswear-luxury collaborations due to its popularity among various celebrities, ranging from musical producers to professional athletes to hip-hop artists. While Fear of God x Nike primarily offers men’s footwear and men’s basketball apparel, other collaborations such as Fear of God Fear of God LA offer a wider selection of products.
