At its front, the adidas NMD R1 features a vast monochrome upper with a glitch pattern. The eye stays are also simple, incorporating a leather overlay that houses the punched eyelets of this shoe. On the quarters, the plain surface continues in an Energy Aqua hue, with solid finishes briefly interrupting the mesh foundation on some parts. The heel deviates from the minimalist design and features a TPU patch in grey adorned by a Trefoil and an adidas logo. Its pull tab reads "the company with three stripes," making for the missing 3-strips on the quarters.
