Product Description
Who would have ever thought the color combo of Brownstone/Blue Reef-Dark Oak, also known as the Parra x Nike Air Max 1 "Amsterdam" would become one of the sought after sneakers of all time? Well, probably the man himself, Parra. The Dutch artist is most known for his curvy post-pop imagery and vibrant colors and lettering and has garnered himself a cult-like following from streetwear, sneaker and street art connoisseurs. His eclectic work is easily recognizable and his hometown of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, helped inspire and launch this Tier Zero release back in 2005. Using the red, burgundy and teal blue hues that his artwork often features, Parra’s first Air Max design became a hit thanks to its unique color combo and Parra’s self-taught illustrative skill that can be seen on the insoles. The Amsterdam crest on the heel of this Parra x Air Max 1 all but defined its nickname from the very beginning. With a rumored 200-300 pairs in existence, including a small amount that hit Nike outlet stores and sold for as low as $30, the Parra Air Max 1 has become one of the most collectible sneakers ever created despite reports of only being made up to a size 11.5. Though the Parra x Nike Air Max 1 "Amsterdam" is sought after, the "Friends and Family" version features Parra’s scripted signature stitched into the forefoot mud guard and was even more limited (approximately 24 pairs).
