Product Description
The Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel-Lyte III "Stainless Steel" was released in December, 2007, and based on how successful his previous collaborations with David Z and ASICS had been, it is no wonder the Stainless Steel Gel Lyte 3 became just as sought-after. A bright-red colored midsole contrasted nicely against an upper of foiled silver overlays with nylon toebox, the Stainless Steel ASICS reflected the flashiness of some of Fieg's earliest makeups of the GL3. The Stainless Steel GEL-Lyte 3 paid tribute to the 25th anniversary of David Z's sneaker boutique in the SoHo district of New York at a time before RF had his own store, Kith. Paired with the "Solid Gold" GEL-Lyte 3 at $130, only 200 pairs of each colorway were available in-store and merely 50 more were available online through the shop's web-store. Compared to the production numbers that we see now, the Stainless Steel GLIII was much more exclusive. The Stainless Steel pack sold out in only a few minutes and can be marked as the beginning of a monochromatic upper and contrasting midsole scheme that we now credit Ronnie Fieg for popularizing. The success of the Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel-Lyte III "Stainless Steel" thrust RF forward into even more spotlight within the sneaker world giving him yet another standout release to build his reputation for creating desired GL3.
