Product Description
Contrasting against his original co-branded GL3 collaboration with Nice Kicks, the more subtly-toned "Ronnie Fieg x Nice Kicks x Asics Gel-Lyte III "2.0" released on the first of October, 2011. Diverging from the bold red that adorned the upper of their first release together, RF and Matt Halfhill (founder, Nice Kicks) decided to go with the lighter-colored monochromatic 2.0 GLIII. Halfhill described their original collaboration as most of a head-turner, whereas the GEL-Lyte 3 2.0 is more of an everyday wear type of design. With a shroud of light grey nubuck wrapping around a soft suede toe box, and just enough white to break up the subtlety of the cloud-like upper, it is undoubted that Ronnie and Matt were looking for Gel Lytes that could be worn frequently. Ronnie Fieg's expertise in materials is explicit with the 2.0, as they stand above other releases from a similar color palette. With only 300 pairs available between Nice Kick in Austin, David Z in New York, and through David Z's web shop, getting your hands on a pair was extremely difficult. Even today, being able to find a Ronnie Fieg x Nice Kicks x Asics Gel Lyte III "2.0" is considered a feat fit for only the most persistent of sneaker enthusiasts.
