Product Description
Named after Evelyne Bertrand, who was the head of the Hermes riding department, the Evelyne was originally made in 1978 for equestrians to carry grooming equipment. In fact, the brand’s history, which spans back an impressive 180 years, is directly related to the horse trade, when patriarch Thierry Hermes set up a saddlery shop in Paris. He was catering to European noblemen who frequented the store and had learned the art of harness making during his time in Normandy, France’s horse country. The perforated "H" on the Evelyne bag allowed for air to enter the bag and dry the equipment. The bag was also intended to be worn with the "H" facing inwards towards your body, but these days the bag is known more for its style than structure, and has increased in popularity over the years as an understated yet classic messenger bag. This Evelyne III PM in black, durable Clemence leather with palladium hardware includes tonal stitching, a snap closure at the back, suede lining and a leather strap which can be alternatively used on the shoulder or as a crossbody strap.
