Though many would complain about the quality of releases during the mid-to-late 2000s, the Air Jordan 3 "Black Cat" from 2007 is one that many collectors would grab again given the chance. Inspired by Michael Jordan’s nickname, the Black Cat 3 was a panther-like colorway of the timeless Air Jordan sneaker. MJ’s nature to attack opponents with relentlessness earned him the "Black Cat" nickname that was stitched underneath the heel tab of this blacked out colorway. Though the official color was Black/Dark Charcoal-Black, the nicknames for this AJ3 began as "Blackout 3s" and "Triple Black" Jordan 3s on the message forums like ISS and NikeTalk. Although the colors were primarily all the same, the varying materials and finishes made this colorway much better than just a simple all black Jordan 3. On the upper a nubuck material was used and then accented with a patent strip between the Elephant Print toe surround and heel. While the originals had Nike Air on the heel, this Air Jordan 3 featured the Jumpman logo with Air written below, which at the time, wasn’t much of a concern for most sneakerheads. The BC3 also introduced Elephant Print laces to the mainstream consumer. The Air Jordan 3 "Black Cat" might seem like a basic sneaker design but that in itself is the beauty, when you’re talking about the classic Jordan 3 design from Tinker Hatfield.
