The Mattel Barbie 2023 Día de Muertos Barbie x Pink Magnolia Doll was created to help celebrate Mexico’s Day of the Dead. It was put together by Pink Magnolia México fashion designer Paola Wong as part of Mattel's second Day of the Dead haute couture collaboration.
This doll had a bunch of features you wouldn’t ever find on other Barbies, including the traditional La Calavera, or sugar skull painting, on the face. The doll also came outfitted in a very special pink dress that was accented with metallics, ruffles, sparkles, and more.
But our experts would argue that it’s the small details included in this doll that really helped bring it to life and pay the ultimate tribute to the Day of the Dead. The VUM earrings and headpiece, for example, gave it an authenticity that it might not have had otherwise. The Mattel Barbie 2023 Día de Muertos Barbie x Pink Magnolia Doll was released on October 4, 2023, when it retailed for $105.
