The Nike Air Max 97 Ultra 17 in a Triple Black colorway features a black mesh up upper with undulating black synthetic overlays. The laces are black, as is the tongue, sock liner, insole, and heel tab. The black foam midsole features a visible full-length Air unit, and the black rubber outsole features traction in cleat-like boxes and herringbone-like stripes.
What our experts love most about this shoe is the subtle branding. Black-on-black Nike Swooshes appear on the tongue, side panel, and insole, and they reflect in the dark – as does the Air Max branding on the heel tab. A small, debossed Nike Swoosh also appears on the heel just above the midsole, and reflective hits streak up and down the tongue.
