Product Description
Shaquille O’Neal’s hometown of Newark New Jersey inspired the Reebok Shaq Attaq "Brick City" colorway. As one of the toughest places in America, Newark’s nickname as the Brick City has long been used to describe the drug problems of the area. As a youngster growing up in Newark, Shaquille O’Neal’s hometown helped make him who he became and Reebok Classics used the original Shaq Attaq to help tell that story. The brick walls of Malcom X Shabazz High School are emulated with the grey, black and red of the Brick City Shaq Attaq. Although Shaq attended high school in San Antonio, Texas, due to his stepfather’s military background, he credits his time in Newark playing at the Boys & Girls Club for keeping him off the streets. The Brick City colorway of the Shaq Attaq features a grey nubuck upper with black overlays and red accents in the form of the Pump on the tongue, Reebok vector logo on the side panel and the inner lining. A speckled midsole also gives this Shaq Attaq another unique feature. While most colorways of the Shaq Attaq retro didn’t have a huge campaign behind them, the Brick City colorway featured a video with O’Neal visiting Shabazz High School, along with rapper and Newark native, Redman. The Reebok Shaq Attaq "Brick City" released in November of 2013 at a price of $160. 1821 ea83b082-220d-45ef-bb1f-86afeb94c41a Please Note: due to natural aging, deadstock pairs may come a functioning pump unit.
