The KAWS Tokyo First show was the first large-scale of Brian Donnelly’s work in Japan and was housed at the Mori Arts Center Gallery. The exhibition comprised over 150 works that span KAWS’ entire career. Upon the opening of the KAWS Tokyo First show the artist released several pieces of merchandise at the museum to promote the show including the KAWS Tokyo First Chum Keychains. This set comes with five KAWS keychains that feature the artist's well-known Chum figure in clear, white, black, yellow, and pink colorways. The keychains were released alongside puzzles, totes, T-shirts, postcards, and the artists first Bearbrick collaboration in over 15 years. The KAWS Tokyo First Chum Keychain set was first released on July 16, 2021.
