The Nike Air Max Penny 1 Lester Middle School represents a collaboration with NBA star Penny Hardaway and pays homage to where he attended school as a student and later coached.
The Lester Middle School iteration of the Nike Air Max Penny 1 is designed with the team colors of the school and starts with an upper of black nubuck. A long, padded textile tongue in gray and black stripes sports a black pull tab with a yellow Nike Swoosh. A black Nike Swoosh in a yellow jewel graces the bottom of the laces, complementing the yellow side-panel Nike Swoosh jewel. Penny Hardaway 1 Cent branding hits the heel in yellow embroidery, while a midsole of black and white Phylon houses visible Max Air under the heel for responsive cushioning. The black and white rubber outsole, grooved for traction, features a large yellow Nike Sswoosh.
What we find most fascinating about this sneaker is the lateral side panel, where white Phylon foam sneaks up from the midsole and works as a structural support for the outside of the foot. The Nike Air Max Penny 1 Lester Middle School debuted on August 8, 2023, for $180 retail.
