Product Description
In this second iteration of the Nike and Kyrie Irving collaboration, the Nike Kyrie 2 Doernbecher features an original design by Andy Grass, an 11-year-old patient at Oregon’s Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
This Nike Kyrie 2’s upper has a checked textile material with blue and white, paying homage to the basketball team Andy supports. The seamless eye stay has punched eyelets where blue and cyan laces embellished with a metallic silver aglet run through. Atop the tongue is a lion-headed baseball player with one foot on a log. Midfoot, a black strap with embossed "Grass" on the right shoe and "Strong" on the left white writings is present. The ankle cages feature a lion face inside a helm, while the heel has the hashtags "q" and "r" in metallic gold as a goodwill message to the recovering Andy.
The personalized touch on the Nike Kyrie 2 Doernbecher makes it stand out. The Grass Strong writings are personal messages from Andy’s parents, while the lion on log logo retells his story of recovering after an accident being crushed by a log at the beach. This shoe retailed at $120 during its December 17th, 2016 release date.
