New Era

The New Era Cap Company was originally founded in 1920 by Ehrhardt Koch in Buffalo, N.Y. Back then, the company specialized in making many of the types of hats that were popular at the time, including options like paperboy hats and Gatsby-style hats. But as time went on, the brand began to manufacture baseball hats, and in the 1930s, the Cleveland Indians would become the first Major League Baseball team to wear baseball hats made by the company. It would continue to grow over the next few decades, with the introduction of the now-iconic 59FIFTY fitted hat in the 1950s taking the brand to the next level.

Throughout the remainder of the 20th century and into the 21st century, New Era would expand rapidly. Before long, the brand was outfitting all MLB teams with hats, while also creating hats for minor league baseball teams as well as teams from other sports. The company produced hats that professional athletes wore on the field and on the sidelines, in addition to alternate color hats like this New Era NY Yankees 59Fifty Fitted Hat Olive for fans.

New Era didn’t stop there, either. In more recent years, the brand has collaborated with a variety of other brands, including Supreme, Fear of God, and others that operate in the streetwear space. The company has also started to create more than just traditional baseball hats. They make beanies, like this Supreme x New Era Box Logo Beanie (FW19), too, and offer many other types of headwear. The brand has even started to dabble in creating apparel for different sports teams.
