Product Description
The Rhee Studio x Hugo Christian Slane Missing! Hand Chair Tee was designed out of an unfortunate circumstance of an impersonating UPS driver and 250+ hours of hard design work by Rhee Studio’s designer, Cherry Kim.
When Kim’s chair failed to get delivered to the Milan exhibit, she and Art Director Hugo Christian Slane came up with the idea for this cleverly designed Missing! Hand Chair Tee. The tee is a nod to the story of her missing chair.
Behind the Design:
Rhee Studio’s Cherry Kim spent 250+ hours developing the pattern and sampling her piece Upperhand for the Art & Residence exhibition at Salone del Mobile. Upon completion of the piece, Upperhand was collected by a UPS driver to be transported to the exhibition site—though it never arrived.
After thoroughly investigating the chair’s whereabouts with UPS security, their staff concluded that the UPS driver was most likely a UPS impersonator dressed in the emblematic brown uniform. The hypothesis? It was an "inside job", whereby a legitimate UPS employee noted the declared value of the piece and tipped a partner off to steal it. Kim obtained security footage from the landlord in which the thief’s face is fully visible—yet no one from UPS recognizes him. UPS is currently investigating the driver that is potentially involved.
