Although Shawn Kemp is most remembered for his time in Seattle, the Reebok Kamikaze II "Trail Blazers" pays tribute to his years in Portland as a member of the Blazers. Kemp’s high-flying dunks and appearances as an NBA All Star eventually earned him a signature sneaker with Reebok named the Kamikaze after Kemp’s wild attacking of the basket. The second version of Kemp’s signature model, known as the Kamikaze II, became one of the most iconic basketball sneakers of the 90s thanks to its bold design. In 2013, Reebok re-released the Kamikaze II for the first time since it was seen on Kemp’s feet back in 1995. One of the most popular colroways of the retro Kamikaze II was the Trail Blazers inspired colorway. From 2000-2002, Shawn Kemp played for the Blazers and "White/Black/Red" colorway of the classic from Reebok could not have been a more appropriate homage to that era. With the wavy zig-zag pattern in a patent red finish, a grey with black speckles sitting next to it and white mixed in throughout the upper and midsole, the Blazers Kamikaze II feels about as 90s as the Fresh Prince. An icy translucent blue outsold only adds to that feeling of nostalgia this colorway creates. With that nostalgia, the Reebok Kamikaze II "Trail Blazers" found its way on to the feet of sneakerheads and into many collections during the holidays of 2013.
